• loss of weight
• rough hair coat
• death in extreme cases

Adults need approximately 0.0015 mg (1.5 micrograms) of vitamin B 12 a day. Consuming less than 1.4 mg a day is unlikely to cause any harm. However, high amounts of cobalt for long periods of time may affect the heart, decrease fertility in men, produces excessive amounts of red blood cells or even damage the thyroid gland.

Some great sources of cobalt are fish, nuts, green leafy vegetables (such as broccoli and spinach), and cereals (such as oats).
