Vitamin P is also known as Bioflavonoids and improves Vitamin C absorption by shielding it from oxidation. This vitamin cannot be produced by the body. Vitamin P may also play an important role in preserving the structures of capillaries, have an antibacterial effect and promote circulation throughout. They may show up in the production of bile, lowering blood cholesterol level and also in the prevention and treatment of cataracts. In maintaining healthy Vitamin P intake levels, the thin walls are protected in helping to preventing bleeding or bruising.



Vitamin P Uses
Vitamin P is used to promote lower blood pressure, blood vessel health, preventing accumulation of atherosclerotic plaque. Other possibilities are that it may lower blood pressure, prevent hemorrhoids, miscarriages, nosebleeds, lower cholesterol and may inhibit tumor growth. Vitamin P can be useful in relieving pain in legs, across the back and lessen symptoms of prolonged bleeding. It can be found in broccoli, citrus fruit, onions, red wine, tomatoes, apricots, green tea, grapes and green pepper.



Vitamin P Dosage
For optimal level of absorption of vitamin P, vitamin C and calcium should be taken at the same time. By taking a daily dose of vitamin C and Vitamin P you may become less susceptible to cold sores. Adult males should take 1.3 mg/day and adult females should take 1.1 mg/day. The recommended daily allowance for pregnant women is 1.4 mg/day and 1.6 mg/ day for breast-feeding women.
